Callies Crankshaft Engineering
Rod Journal Oil Flow
The Callies oil hole system offers several advantages.
Rod journal oil flow improves due to a reduction in the angle of entry into the transfer hole from 135 degrees to 90 degrees.
For enhanced pickup, a low-pressure zone generated under the main bearing lead-in allows the oil film to gently lift prior to the oil hole.
By virtue of its narrower footprint, a round main bearing oil hole is less disruptive to the main bearing oil film than a common elliptical oil entry hole.
Callies Ultra-Case Heat Treat
All Callies crankshafts feature our Ultra-Case nitride treatment. This heat treatment method produces a deep case that enhances strength while creating an extremely hard load bearing wear surface. The Ultra-Case process generates a layer of hardened steel deep enough to maintain its integrity even after a -.010 regrind.
